But that hasn’t stopped director Tim Burton from teaming up with Johnny Depp to make a film adaptation of the gothic TV series from the 1960s.

Like pretty much every film the Beatlejuice director has put out over the last decade, Dark Shadows will feature Johnny Depp and Burton’s wife, Helena Bonham Carter. But those aren’t the only stars signed on to the project. Far from it. Burton has lined up an all-star cast including the likes of Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer and even Alice Cooper.

The film follows the Collins family as they set sail from England to North America in the 18th century. Everything goes well until next thing you know there’s vampires and witches flying all over the place accompanied by a terrifying and creepy Danny Elfman score in the background. Yes, it should be magical.

Dark Shadows hits theaters May 11, 2012. It will be released in both normal, run of the mill theaters, as well as IMAX, provided you really want to spend a lot of money on a movie.
